BOOK REVIEW – GANGSTA GRANNY
WHO IS THIS AUTHOR?
David Walliams was born in England. The first book he wrote
was the wildly successful ‘The Boy in the Dress’. David Walliams books are
hilarious and interesting and are often compared with Roald Dahl’s works.
WHAT IS THIS BOOK ABOUT?
Gangsta Granny is a book for 9- to 12-year-olds. David Walliams wrote Gangsta Granny in the year 2011. This book is about an 11-year-old boy named Ben who hates it when his parents drop him at his Granny’s every Friday. All his Granny seems to want to do is to drink Cabbage soup and play Scrabble. But then Ben learns a shocking secret. After discovering the secret, he couldn’t wait to meet his Granny. His granny isn't boring like he had thought. What is Ben’s Granny’s secret? What does he do about it? Above all the excitement, this book also has an unexpected twist!
WHAT DO I THINK ABOUT THIS BOOK?
This is the second book of this author I have read,
the first one being ‘Demon Dentist’. I hugely enjoyed reading that book so I
tried ‘Gangsta Granny’. It is truly a ‘gem’ of a book (pun intended!). This
book kept me engrossed throughout. It is quite comical and will make you laugh
out loud. This book has joined the list of my all-time favourite books.
